The closely related genera Aganonerion, Parameria and Urceola are revised. One species of Aganonerion is recognised. Three species of Parameria are recognised and Parameriopsis is included in synonymy. Ecdysanthera, Chavannesia, Xylinabaria, Hymenolophus, Parabarium, Pezisicarpus, Xylinabariopsis and Chunechites are included in synonymy of Urceola in which 16 species are recognised. Within Urceola one new species is described. |

Traditional spatial equilibrium models have assumed that markets are either perfectly competitive or monopolistic. In this paper, a generalized spatial equilibrium model is developed which allows for any degree of market conduct from perfect competition to monopoly. The model incorporates a "dual structure" in which there are oligopolistic consignment sellers (producer marketing boards) and perfectly competitive producers receiving pooled returns. The usefulness of the model is demonstrated using Kyushu regional milk market data in Japan. Numerous spatial equilibrium solutions are generated for the Kyushu milk market assuming alternative sets of imperfectly competitive behavior with the "dual structure." It is demonstrated that actual interregional milk... |

Responses to a product placement study of five long-grain rice varieties in 192 Asian-American households in Houston, Texas were utilized to estimate a quality-adjusted price model for rice demand. Quantity-dependent demand functions were estimated using actual price, quality-adjusted price, and no price scenarios. Results indicate that, although price was statistically significant, it explained very little of the variation in the quantity of rice demanded; further, income was not significant in determining rice demand for Asian Americans. Their demand appears to be driven primarily by ethnic and cultural considerations and household characteristics. Implications for retail marketing are discussed. |

Data are presented on the diet of Cory's Shearwater Calonectris diomedea borealis (Cory, 1881) resulting from stomach investigations based on 18 birds from Hierro (Canary Islands), 5 from Selvagem Grande (Selvagens or Salvage Islands), 2 from São Miguel and 1 from São Jorge (Azores), collected between 1977 and 1981. These data confirm the general idea that this shearwater feeds principally on fish and squid. The glandular stomachs of 9 birds from Hierro contained significant quantities of food, varying in wet weight from ca. 4-40 gm; in four cases more or less complete squids were present, all Ommastrephes bartrami (Le Sueur, 1821). In addition, the gizzards of all 26 birds, except one, contained fragments of squid beaks belonging to 12 species. Several of... |

Variability in published meat demand elasticity estimates for Canada motivates examining the importance of dynamics and endogeneity of right-hand-side variables. Wickens and Breusch suggest a re-parameterization of dynamics which allows estimating the long-run parameters directly and maintains linearity. A symmetric approach, employing both ordinary and inverse demand systems, to endogeneity of right-hand-side variables is used. Endogeneity of both prices and quantities is examined. Results show both dynamics and endogeneity are important in quarterly Canadian meat demand. |
